The RAF Regiment is pleased to announce that the following Association members have received a Commandant General Commendation for 2017. Hearty congratulations to the recipients.

Mrs Julia Smith- Sussex Branch

Diligently work as Secretary for the Sussex branch of the Royal Air Force Regiment Association for the last several years, coupled with you taking on treasurer duties after the sad passing of your husband LAC John Smith (Ret) is a very outstanding achievement. Standing up at this very difficult time to selflessly support the Association is most admirable. I feel that the support you give to so many as well as producing the branch newsletter to such a high standard is fully supportive of a Commendation.

Mr David R Kennedy-Suffolk Branch

Serving from 1955 to 1977 returning to the Corps to be involved in Veterans affairs in 1983, being instrumental in numerous events and activities that lead to the formation of the Royal Air Force Regiment Association. Recently contributed to the success of Felixstowe Council’s event in order to mark the 100th Anniversary of Felixstowe Air Station using knowledge of air displays which was simply outstanding. Being the ‘rock’ to which the Branch has anchored for over twenty seven years and with retirement now in place this Commendation is greatly deserved.

Mr Alan Day- South & West Wales Branch

In 1998 forming the South and West-Wales branch of the Royal Air Force Regiment Association to make it more accessible for personnel who had settled in the area. Working tirelessly, recruiting fifty five members and taking on the roles of chairman, secretary, treasurer and Branch Standard Bearer. For over twenty years acted as area chairman for several branches, networking at branch meetings; including Bristol, and Winterbourne Gunner as part of your tenacious dedication to the service. A truly remarkable feat of support to the Corp and fine display of stamina.
