Death Notices

It is now Corps policy to recognise the passing of all serving and former members of the RAF Regiment the RAF Regiment Association will issues Death Notices routinely via social media but they reliant upon timely notification by individuals and/or from newspaper Obituaries.

It would be greatly appreciated if such events were to be notified to the Association as soon as they are known, together with a suitable telephone or Email point of contact. For those members of the RAF Regiment Association providing information, please copy your notification to the National Secretary.

Corps Death Notification

When a veteran member of the Corps dies, the Association will send a Condolence card, on behalf of the CG RAF Regt and Corps members, to the next of kin (NOK). The card also contains other information of use to the family at that time.

In parallel with this, a brief Obituary is normally published through Social media or website to, ideally, notify the funeral arrangements and the contact details of the NOK in case others would wish to attend or send their condolences. In slower time, a more detailed tribute, with photograph, is prepared for publication in the Corps journal, Centurion. However, none of the foregoing actions can take place unless the Association is notified in a timely fashion of the individual’s death and of the NOK and funeral details. The most efficient form of notification is to use the standard Corps Death Notification Form (CDNF – version 2018-1), obtainable in electronic form on-line via the RAF Regt Assoc website – see link below.

For members of the Assocs of the RAF Regt, it is incumbent upon the Branch officers to maintain appropriate records of their members in accordance with their Assoc’s standing instructions and guidance. All such information must be handled in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act.

If you become aware of a Corps veteran’s death, please notify the Association as soon as possible, providing as much information known. Waiting until after the funeral potentially denies other friends and colleagues paying their last respects and delays the sending of formal Corps condolences to the NOK.

To help you notify the RAF Regiment Secretary of the death of a serving or former member of the RAF Regiment a form can be downloaded in Word or PDF format for you to complete and return to the RAF Regiment Secretary:
