2622 (Highland) Sqn RAuxAF Regt’s Pipe Band (PB) enjoyed huge success at the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Assoc’s World Championships on Sat 16 Aug in Glasgow, winning the Grade 4 Competition to become the Supreme Champions, adding to their other successes from this year’s major RSPBA Competitions, namely Scottish, British and European Champions. 2622 Sqn PB will now be elevated to Grade 3B status.
Allied to the RAF Recruiting presence, this made for highly effective engagement in a target-rich recruiting field. This year, the RAF’s own PB Championships will be held at RAF Cosford on Sat 19 Oct. It will be adjudicated under the auspices of the Director of the Army School of Bagpipe Music & Highland Drumming, who has the Tri-Service lead for military piping and drumming, and provides the RAF PBs annual ‘fit for role’ assurance endorsement.
