Thanksgiving Service for Peter Alliss – The Voice of Golf

The RAF Regt was represented in full at the Thanksgiving Service for Peter Alliss – ‘The Voice of Golf’ – held at Younger Hall at the University of St Andrews on Wednesday, 13th July.
Peter Alliss was a National Service Gunner with the RAF Regt from 1949-51, serving at the RAF Regt Gunnery School, RAF Watchett, for most of the time. He never forgot his National Service with the Corps, retaining personal contact mainly through the RAF Regt Golf Society – for which he was the Hon President – and as a guest of the RAF Regt Offrs’ Dinner Club some years ago. He died on 5th December 2020 and the funeral was a private family affair, held under Covid conditions. The Thanksgiving Service was the opportunity for everyone to pay their respects.
Gp Capt Jason Sutton represented the CG RAF Regt and the Corps, while Wg Cdr Martin Hooker represented the Exco, Corps Memorial Garden – in which a Memorial Stone was installed in 2021 – and the Corps Veterans.
The Alliss family plan to attend the Annual Corps Memorial Commemoration Service in 2023, the first time that the wider family will have the opportunity of viewing the Memorial Stone.
