Privacy Notice

Who we are and how we use your personal information

The RAF Regiment Association (registered charity number 1157881) is dedicated to helping, in cases of need, hardship or distress, persons who are or have served in the RAF Regiment and their wives/partners and dependents.

At the request of our membership, we have undertaken to provide a form of welfare for all members who might need help. We are extending this to include wives/partners and dependents and have formed the Ladies Welfare Sub Committee (LWSC), who are operational with effect from 1st April 2025.

We take our commitment to maintaining the privacy and security of your personal data extremely seriously, ensuring that we meet all data protection requirements. We do not pass on any of the information that you have given to us to any third party unless we have your written consent to do so. (This may apply when there is a need to involve other agencies such as SSAFA or the Royal British
Legion, RAF Benevolent Fund, RAF Association or similar bodies.)

What we collect and why

The RAF Regiment Association LWSC will only collect the personal data that is absolutely necessary to process your application for assistance. When you apply for assistance, your data will be stored by the ladies of the LWSC on their personal devices for a limited time.

We will not continue to hold any of your data any longer than is required by law and for audit purposes. This data will be deleted from our system after further assistance is no longer required and in any
case after 12 months unless there is an ongoing need and retention of personal information is agreed by the applicant.

Accessing your information

You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that we hold. To amend or delete your personal data, please email the member of the LWSC dealing with your case and your wishes
will be strictly adhered to.

Your welfare and well-being is our concern,

All contacts made with the LWSC will be treated with utmost confidentiality.

The Ladies of this committee are not qualified counsellors, they are all wives of ex-RAF Regiment Gunners and have a lot of experience of dealing with problems that might arise, and they will always lend a sympathetic ear and hopefully point you in the right direction if help of a more practical nature is needed.

You are not alone

Branch Circular

At the AGM in October 2024, a motion was put forward, seconded and agreed, which required the NMC to establish a form of welfare for members of the Association. This has now been done and in conjunction with the RAF Regiment Band of Brothers Organisation, we are glad to announce that as of 1st April 2025, the system is operational. Should any member need assistance, then please contact the NMC by email or Band of Brothers on Facebook as soon as possible. The funding is limited and covers emergency uses only.

Further to this, the question was asked recently: “Why do we not have some form of welfare for our ladies and families”? A fair question, as most of them have “served” as long as the actual full member. To this end, the NMC have formed a welfare system for our ladies as a subcommittee for the NMC. They are the Ladies Welfare Sub-Committee (LWSC) and are currently only 3 ladies in strength. These ladies are NOT qualified counsellors or trained in welfare, however, they have access to other agencies and can always lend a sympathetic ear if that’s all that is needed. They have all volunteered to take this on. There is NO funding available to them at present,t but there is support for them from within the RAF.

They have agreed to allow their personal details to be circulated and are available either by email or by phone. The confidentiality of ALL cases is of greatest importance to them and is set out in the RAF Regiment Privacy Notice (attached). We trust that ALL branches will circulate this information and retain it for their records so that it can be given to any wife/partner or dependent. They are:

  • Ellen Anderson 07837 118214 ellenanderson54@icloud.com
  • Sue Grimley 07815 295879 sue.grimley@outlook.com
  • Yvonne Munroe 07832 135877 yvonne_munroe@yahoo.co.uk

Please feel free to ring them or email them if you need advice or just a sympathetic ear of someone who truly understands. They are there to listen and to help where possible.
