Following the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II, the Executive Council (Exco) of the Corps Memorial Garden (CMG) commissioned two 600mm (c.24in) sq honed-granite commemorative stones in honour of our past Air Commodores-in-Chief. They have now been produced and laid in the main pathway of the CMG, as shown in the accompanying images. The Air Commodores-In-Chief Commemorative Stones look superb and will demonstrate visually the Corps’ Sovereigns’ patronage, since 1947, to all entering the CMG. The cost of the stones and their installation will be met by the Centurion Fund.
They will be dedicated formally at the Annual Corps Memorial Commemoration Service (ACMCS) on Sat 24 Jun 23; the Exco hopes you will be able to attend what is always a meaningful and enjoyable event.
We think you will agree that they are a most impressive addition to the CMG. We can only speculate as to whether HM The King will assume the appointment of Air Commodore-in-Chief of the RAF Regiment, but any decision will no doubt be reached in the months to come.
