We have received a request from the Corps, via WO A. Cashmore, regarding Remembrance Media Requests – URGENT, to circulate the following communication to all Association Members.
Please see the information below and consider whether you may be able to assist.
The BBC is preparing a series of films and features for the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on 7 November 2026. They are seeking a variety of individuals to participate in recordings scheduled throughout September and October.
Those wishing to take part should contact rockape617@gmail.com directly
Task One: Families
The BBC would like to hear from families with loved ones currently deployed overseas, particularly in Cyprus or the Middle East, between now and Remembrance Sunday. They are interested in families willing to share their experiences and potentially speak on camera.
- Full details are provided in the attached document titled “Letters Home” (Tile 1) – Click here.
- If the entire family is deployed overseas, the BBC is happy to engage with them, provided the story is emotionally compelling.
Task Two: Gulf War 1990/91
For the Royal Albert Hall programme on 7 November, there will be a segment featuring a powerful video recounting an extraordinary story from the Gulf War. At the conclusion, the individual involved will lay a wreath centre stage.
- The BBC is seeking a Gulf War veteran with a compelling, “showstopper” story of courage or overcoming adversity.
- If you know of such a story—perhaps through a friend or colleague—please share the details with me so I can pass them to the BBC producer.
- The individual must be available to attend the Royal Albert Hall on 7 November.
Task Three: Blueys & Letters
To commemorate the 15th anniversary of Op TELIC, the BBC will feature readings of extracts from letters and Blueys exchanged between Iraq veterans and their families.
- Full details are in the attached document titled “Blueys from Iraq” (Tile 2) Click here.
For more details, please see the attached documents.
