The Assoc has been invited to nominate members, ( at short notice), to attend highly prestigious London events organised by the RBL to mark the 70th Anniversary of Victory in Europe Day. The RBL criteria for attendees is;
“veterans are 85 years and over and that they played an active role during the Second World War in terms of either military or medical service, Home Guard or in one of the reserved occupations”.
Attendees may be accompanied by one carer / partner. Additionally, travel expense will be reimbursed by RBL.
Date of the events are:
- Friday 8 May: Attendance at the Cenotaph Service of Remembrance at 3pm, followed by a late afternoon reception at the Foreign Office.
- Sunday 10 May: Attendance at the Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey at 11 am, followed by a march from the Abbey, through Whitehall and Horse Guards Parade into St James’ Park where there will be a veterans’ lunch reception hosted by The Royal British Legion.
If your Branch is interested in nominating any member/s, who meet the criteria above, please contact the undersigned urgently for further details. NMC fully supports this event and wants to ensure the RAF Regiment is represented. Deadline for returns to the Nat Sec, is Thursday 0900 26 Mar 15.
