From: Squadron Leader P T W Holland RAF, Officer Commanding II Squadron RAF Regiment

7th July 2008
Dear Friend,
As you may be aware, II Squadron RAF Regiment is currently deployed in Iraq defending the Contingency Operating Base at Basra Airfield from those who may wish to do the Coalition harm. We are due to return in early September 2008 having soldiered throughout the heat of the Middle-Eastern summer for over 6 long months away from our families and friends. The purpose of my writing is to request your support to raise money both for charity and to buy the lads on the Squadron a well earned beer on our return home. I am hoping that friends, family and colleagues of II Squadron personnel, as well as former members of the Squadron, may wish to contribute a few pounds to help us celebrate our return.
A bottle of II Field Airborne Rock-Ape Ale costs £2, of which 50p will go to the 'Help for Heroes' charity. With 150 extremely thirsty blokes on the Squadron, we are hoping to raise a modest £1200 to wet their particularly dry whistles! If you feel that you would like to contribute even the cost of one bottle, then I would be very pleased to receive your donation. Donations can be made on-line at www.redratcraftbrewery.co.uk (and then click on the II Squadron link) or by cheque (payable to ‘Red Rat Craft Brewery') and sent to:

Please remember to include your name and address with your donation, so that I may let you know how much we end up raising for charity. Finally, please feel free to print this and forward on to any wider family or friends who may be willing to support us.
Yours,
"Dutch" Holland
