You will be please to know that the Association has finalised the arrangements for Annual General Meeting and Reunion, to take place on weekend 30 Sept/ 03 Oct 2011 in Cheltenham. The NEC considered the options of two hotels and decided on the 4 Star Cheltenham Park Hotel. Jeff Stevenson, has been appointed as event co-coordinator. This year we will be joined by the members of RAF Regiment WOs and SNCOs Association, which will also hold its AGM during the weekend but at different time to that of our AGM. The venue has excellent road and rail access making it an ideal venue for our event and it is very well suited for disabled members with rooms located on ground floor annex close to the dining hall, bars and lounges.

We have not forgotten the ladies’ who might need a bit of retail therapy. We have planned a choice of two (2) Coach Trip’s on Saturday. One will take in Cheltenham Town centre which has a variety of shops to cater for most peoples needs. From quality privately owned shops to national & international chain stores. There are a number of relaxed shopping arcades including The Promenade one of the most stylish shopping areas in the area. The High Street is another of the main shopping area of Cheltenham. There are a number of shopping arcades such as the Regent Arcade Shopping Centre.
The other trip is to Gloucester Quays Designer Outlets which has outstanding mix of high street and designer labels for sale at discounted prices. Within the Quays there is also an Antiques Centre with something for everyone in Antiques, Collectables & Curios.
The Saturday night Gala Dinner will be held in the Garden Function Hall, which has a seating for 180 guests. There will be 18 themed tables, organized by the hotel support team. This year it would not be appropriate to present Commandant General’s Awards during the Gala Dinner, as we have two associations present. Therefore all presentations will be made after the AGM.
The Regiment Secretary is organizing the ever popular operational presentation for the Saturday afternoon, by recently returned Squadron from Afghanistan. The Sunday morning Muster Parade will be inside the hotel grounds, and arrangements are place in case of inclement weather. The Rest of weekend is yours to enjoy as you see fit. There will be opportunities for plenty of local activities, including Golfing, and the full use of the hotels 4 star leisure facilities.
The Vice-Chairman will be arranging and facilitating 5 half-hour presentation slots throughout the weekend for anyone who wants to talk about their “own experience” of RAF Regiment Service. We think it is a good way of members sharing their experiences and views. If you are interested please contact the Tom Renshaw or Frank Xavier, National Secretary.
When you arrive at the hotel, there will be a fast-track booking system (with ready-made information packs), manned by the hotel staff and National Officials. Jeff Stevenson, the AGM Coordinator, has worked very hard to ensure that all arrangements are in place for the enjoyment of all the members.
